Ultraviolet Lights to Kill Germs
The Cruise Ship Story
Everyone has heard the cases of many people getting sick on a cruise ship. The ship comes to port, is scrubbed down, goes out again and the same thing happens. The problem was finally resolved by putting an ultraviolet light in the HVAC systems on the ships to kill all airborne bacteria.
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short wavelength ultraviolet light (UV-C specifically) to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, effectively killing them off. UV lights can be used in a variety of applications, including air purification and in your home's HVAC system. The UV light is installed on the interior of your system and can help eliminate many types of fungi, bacteria, germs, viruses, and pathogens that may be circulating around your home.
If you or someone you live with has problems with allergies, gets sick easily, or if you are simply worried about the quality of air in your home, then installing a UV light may be something you should consider.
